Description

Boarding School Juliet is a school rom-com inspired by Romeo and Juliet. At Dahlia Academy, a boarding school on an island, students from the rival nations of Touwa and West live in two feuding dorms. Romio Inuzuka and Juliet Persia lead the first-years on opposite sides. They start dating early, but have to keep their relationship secret from their classmates.

The setting mixes modern school life with fictional countries and aristocratic customs. Much of the humor comes from sneaking in time together while acting like rivals in public. It’s mostly light and playful, with more serious moments about prejudice, family expectations, and unrequited love. Fights and slapstick are common; graphic violence isn’t the focus.

Pros

  • The leads get together early, so the story has room for life as a couple.
  • The romance centers on two people tackling obstacles together.
  • Supporting characters grow beyond their roles as friends and rivals.
  • Expressive artwork, especially in the romantic scenes.

Cons

  • The final stretch can feel rushed.
  • School rivalries and constant interruptions may frustrate readers looking for more time with the couple.
