Description
Chainsaw Man is set in an alternate Japan in the late 1990s, where devils grow stronger as people fear what they represent. Denji is a broke teenager hunting devils with his dog-like companion Pochita to repay his father’s debt. After Pochita becomes his heart, Denji can sprout chainsaws from his body and joins Public Safety under Makima. His dreams start small: decent food, a bed, and someone who cares about him.
Frantic fights and deadpan humor sit alongside loneliness, manipulation, and awkward attempts at intimacy. The second part shifts toward school life and Asa Mitaka, a socially isolated teenager. Beneath the absurd jokes, this is a dark, often sad story about wanting affection and a life of your own. Expect graphic dismemberment, body horror, sexual content, and coercion; tender moments offer relief, but the mood can change suddenly.
