Description
Fire Punch takes place on a frozen, famine-stricken Earth after civilization has collapsed. Some people, called the Blessed, have powers that others exploit to survive. Agni can regenerate his body. When his village is attacked with flames that never go out, he is left healing and burning at the same time. He sets out for revenge and meets Togata, a movie fanatic who wants to turn his journey into a film.
Revenge leads into questions of faith, trauma, and the roles people are pressured to play. Movies shape both the storytelling and how the characters understand themselves. Absurd humor interrupts the horror, but the tone is bleak and often tragic. Expect graphic violence, cannibalism, sexual assault, incestuous themes, and suicidal behavior. Sudden shifts in focus and mood make this an intense, sometimes disorienting read.
Pros

- Togata’s movie obsession brings sharp humor and personality to the cast.
- Shifting genres keep the story unpredictable.
Cons
- Sudden turns and sparse explanations can make the plot hard to follow.
- Some supporting characters and story threads can feel underdeveloped.
