Description
Junta Shiraishi is so easy to overlook that his teachers mark him absent while he’s sitting in class. His classmate Nagisa Kubo always spots him, though, and loves finding ways to make him react. Set in a present-day Japanese high school, the manga follows their teasing friendship as Shiraishi starts stepping out of the background.
The romance grows through small gestures, with Kubo’s own flustered reactions showing another side of her confidence. Friends and siblings add warmth, while Shiraishi’s loneliness gives the everyday jokes some weight. It’s a light, largely comforting read with gradual romantic progress, mild suggestive humor, and no graphic violence.
Pros
- Kubo’s affectionate teasing makes the leads easy to root for.
- Shiraishi’s growing confidence and friendships give the romance an emotional core.
- Short chapters make the gentle humor easy to dip into.
Cons
- The familiar girl-teases-shy-boy setup can feel formulaic.
- Kubo’s early characterization revolves heavily around her crush.
