Description
Orange is set in contemporary Matsumoto, in Japan’s Nagano Prefecture. High school student Naho Takamiya receives a letter from herself ten years in the future. It predicts the arrival of transfer student Kakeru Naruse and asks her to avoid choices she will later regret. As its predictions come true, Naho must decide when to trust the letter and when to act on what she feels.
The story moves between the classmates’ school days and scenes ten years later, using the letters to make everyday decisions feel urgent. Romance matters, but the wider friendship group is central to the story. It is bittersweet and often emotionally heavy, with grief, depression, and suicidal thoughts. Playful banter and small acts of care add warmth. Physical violence is limited; the hardest scenes come from emotional distress.

- Letters from the future make everyday choices feel urgent.
